Saturday’s Critters #3

First, I wish Merry Christmas to everyone. I know a lot of bloggers are taking blogging breaks.  I  want to wish them and you a happy holiday with family and loved ones.

My Saturday’s Critter post and photos are from our yard and a walk on the NCR trail a few weeks ago. A cold day but clear skies perfect for a brisk walk and to look for birds..

After filling the feeders at home I was able to watch some of my yardbird.  The American Goldfinches are here year round and are showing off their winter colors.

One of my most popular feeders has a Goldfinch and a White-Breasted Nuthatch.

I seem to see the Redbellied Woodpecker everywhere I go.

This area has was popular with the Tufted Titmouse.

My Goldie Girl always enjoys our walks.

Around the Yard>Dec 19

December 19, 2013

Linking up with NF Winged   and  Skywatch Friday

I am sharing some of my backyard birds for NF Winged and some of the skies over my yard one evening. We need some warm days to melt the snow and ice that is still hanging around our yard.

I have a faithful Redbellied Woodie couple that frequently visit my feeders. They especially love the peanuts in the shell.

The Mourning Doves are all puffed out trying to keep warm. The weatherman is forcasting warmer temps at the end of this week and weekend. I hope they are right..

Another shot of my Redbellied Woodpecker..

Wednesday evening there were a few colorful clouds around the backyard..

The moon this morning, was looking beautiful.

Seen this morning the waning gibbous and Jupiter above and to the right of the moon.

I hope you enjoyed my birds, sky and  post. Thanks for visiting my blog and I always appreciate your comments.

I am looking forward to seeing you join in and share your critters on my MEME called Saturday Critters..early Saturday Morning..join in on the party and post your cute pets, wild animals, birds and the cute farm animals.

Cardinals in the snow

I am linking up with Wild Bird Wednesday and Nature Notes

December 17, 2013

I am not really much a lover of snow or winter.. But, it is Ok if I do not have to go out and drive in it. I deal with crazy drivers on dry roads every day going to work and they scare me.....So, these same crazy drivers on wet, snowy and icy roads are just plain dangerous.

Our last snow was on Saturday, so I enjoyed watching the birds coming and going at my feeders. There seems to be a feeding frenzy when it snows..They do not have to worry, I have stocked up on the sunflower seeds, suet and peanuts. They will not go hungry around my yard..

In the spring, this Cardinal pair will chase off any other Cardinal that shows up in their yard. But, I think they become nicer during a snowstorm and actually become civil and share the seeds and feeders.

My poor female is not looking happy with this cold weather and snow...I think she is ready for spring just like I am..bring it on.

I have been seeing the House Sparrows going inside one of my birdhouses. I think they are huddling in the house to keep warm.. We do have protection for the birds from the weather with all the birdhouses, pine trees, shrubs, the wood pile and bushes..

Thanks for visiting my post and for the nice comments.

I hope you can join in on my MEME called Saturday Critters..early on Saturday Mornings ...join in with the party and post your cute critters.
